The Old Mill

I spent a morning driving around Floyd County Virginia while at the Fourth Floyd Plein Air Biennial looking for old mills. This one, Pine Creek Mill, turned out to be the only one left with a working waterwheel. I met the MIll's caretaker and he showed me pictures of how he used a shovel to dig out the mud around its base and got it turning again by chaining it to a tractor. He was excited to see an artist take interest in it but told me I wasn't the first.
