Rising Tide - Mystic Beach

Nestled into the rugged coastline of Vancouver Island the sea-cliff of Mystic Beach rises up dramatically from the high-tide line, sculpted by innumerable winter storms which have slowly carved it out of the coastal rain forest above. I wanted to capture how the ocean spray lingers in the air and takes on a luminous quality as it's illuminated by the late morning sun. I focused on using precise use of specific and avoided using blending or gradients. Even the sky was created using interlocking brush strokes of pure color, precisely mixed to give the illusion of a smooth transition.
