Sketch 8 - Landslide Lake

This work is a small study of Landslide Lake, a small alpine lake fed by a glacier at the foot of the mountain. I wanted to try capture the brilliance of the late afternoon light just before the sun dips behind the mountains and how it illuminates the silt laden water. Using a geometric and impressionistic approach, I strove to capture it's atmospheric quality in a manner that would accurately depict the location but also convey the emotional effect the landscape has on me.
