Wetlands at Shaver's Creek

In 2023 I partnered with ClearWater Conservancy to create a collection of twelve pastel paintings to raise money and awareness for conserving more of our central Pennsylvania landscapes. I hiked along as an artist-in-residence with ClearWater's Centred Outdoors program. On the hike at Shaver’s Creek, I explored the trails closest to the Environmental Center, where folks of all ages come to learn about nature. The Point Trail took me to a pavilion overlooking Lake Perez, but the trail down to the boardwalk opened up to a platform jutting out into a beautiful marshy landscape that became the subject of this painting. At Shaver’s Creek, a variety of trails through forest, fields, and wetlands and an abundance of plants, insects, birds, and animals can be observed.
