The Groupies

Oil on linen panel. The Groupies was inspired by a group of women who referred to themselves as “groupies.” They were in many painting classes that I taught. Recently in November 2024 they gave me a beautiful flower arrangement and “dared” me to “paint that”. Being one who likes “layers” I jumped right into it. Later when all of the delicate flowers were spent, I took the flowers that were suitable for drying, placed them in a colored glass vase and painted those, thus getting a second and totally different painting out of the same “dare.”
