The Fog is Lifting

I spent every childhood summer on a remote island in Maine, and was compelled to pick up a brush at a young age to try to capture some of that heartbreaking beauty. Monhegan Island is now that muse for me - it's why I paint. I return each summer and have painted this spot en plein air a dozen times in all weather. Intermittent fog one year lead to very focused piece that has compelled me to make this larger studio painting to draw in the viewer closer to this mystical scene.
