This is a studio painting done from sketches and digital images taken in Estes Park, Colorado. I painted there for nearly eight years in the Estes Park Plein Air competitions. I could not have done justice to this painting in plein air due to the constant movement of the horses. I painted this with only a palette knife, one of the first horse paintings I had ever tried with a palette knife. I loved the result!
