Persistence

I love this subject and considered painting it for years before it felt like the right time. During the process, this painting became a self portrait. That wasn't my original intention, but as I worked on it, I discovered many ways this subject and the process of painting it related to my life, representing deeply personal experiences. This was done with a very limited palette, just four pigments. As I was planning the look I wanted, and starting the painting process, I found that I really didn't need anything more.
