Magestic Glory
Magestic Glory was painted with archival oils on panel in a modern impressionistic style. I took a few photos of this scene while in Florida then returned to my studio combining a couple. I liked the sky from one and landscape from another photo. After determining my focal point, I begin blocking in the compostion/main shapes with a thin loose layer of paint. Next I mix puddles of each color in 3-5 values on my palette. The majority of the sky is brushed on with soft edges which helps it to recede. I then add the water and sand with my palette knife loading in with subtle varying values. Once these layers are dry, I begin painting the seagrass dunes with a thin dark to light values/layers. Crisper edges on the focal seagrass emerging into the sun. Softened/blurred seagrass as it moves out from the focal point. My aim is that Magestic Glory evokes a refreshing, calming effect on ones soul, . My modern impressionistic oil paintings capture the dance of light and shadow, coming to life with movement that guides your eye and stirs your spirit.
