Snowfall on Rural Wapello

This old barn is a neighbor to my father’s house in rural Wapello, Iowa, and a familiar sight whenever I visit. It catches my eye in all seasons, but especially in winter when the snowy field, barren trees, and distant barn evoke such a tranquil yet chilly atmosphere. The painting was done in watercolor with a touch of gouache in the falling snow.
