"The Beginning" is the reflection of a couple who survived the Vietnam war. Found one another in New Orleans and raised a large family. The two endured successes and failures and continue to grow their companionship. Their seven leaves represent the children they raised. The falling petals is the artist's observation that the two are growing old, wilting in age.
The body of work is completed primarily in Sennelier Oil Sticks.
