"The Artist" is a floral personification of the artist, as stated in the title. The fifth child, second daughter of an immigrant Asian-American family. Raised in a small town in Alabama, surrounded by security until a family move to New Orleans separated the artist from her creative soul. The three upright flowers represent her outgoing, extroverted nature, while the wilting blue tulip is a direct reflection of deep melancholic memories the artist experiences from time to time. The budding tulip is a reflection of the artist's evergreen curiosity of her world, constantly learning and unlearning.
The body of work is completed primarily in Sennelier Oil Sticks.
