Mission San Miguel still occupies its original 18th century footprint near Paso Robles, CA, and has the distinction of being the least-restored Mission originally built by the Franciscan friars. That fact was what drew me to this place, to study the textured walls, unkempt gardens, and Spanish-style ruin of these ancient buildings.
