Arizona Sky, Vista View
Oil painting of Windy Point Vista, which is part way up Mt. Lennon in Tucson, AZ. The elevation here is 6,600 feet above sea level and is the mid-way point from the base of the mountain to the top. I was visiting Tucson where I was dropping off work at Medicine Man Gallery and was intrigued by the very distinctive 'Thimble Peak" shown in the background of my painting of Windy Point. I enjoyed traversing the switchbacks and rapidly changing topography as I quickly gained altitude and the town shrunk far below us. This painting reminds of me of this special outing and time with my friend and fellow painter, composer Larry Cansler. I choose a vertical orientation to emphasis the vastness of the foreground, juxtaposed with the intensity of the sky and clouds that day.
